An Evolution in Modern French San Diego Cuisine
Fresh Ingredients and a Progressive Menu
Named after the wind that blows through the Rhone Valley, Provence and Italy, Mistral offers modern French cuisine touched by influences from the Southern Mediterranean to Northern Italy and across to Western Spain.
It works because San Diego is one of only four places in the world with an ideal Mediterranean climate. Our chefs can search for the perfect ingredients right in the surrounding region, and often, literally in our own backyard. Our 3,800 square foot garden provides Mistral with fresh ingredients like basil, artichokes, strawberries, rosemary, lavender, broccoli and thyme. Herbs are picked each day, and used to prepare that evening's menu. Our chefs sustain the garden using produce trimmings to create a compost heap which is turned into fertilizer for our herb, rose and citrus gardens.

Our culinary philosophy: The modern farm kitchen
At Mistral, our philosophy is simple: a respect for the food we serve, its preparation, and the French culture that defines it. Chef Patrick takes the concept of farm to table and transcends it, with an innovative farm kitchen style. He combines creativity with a complete knowledge of the ingredients and a brilliant understanding of technique. It's a philosophy that harkens back to a time when food was prepared in the kitchen on the farm where it was grown, perfectly fresh, perfectly sustainable.
Mistral has its own herb garden, and its own certified forager whose job is to find and gather the freshest and finest fish, meat and produce from local farmers, fisherman, ranchers and artisans. We build each day's menu by combining authentic ingredients in a way that delivers the most exquisite culinary experience.
Then we bring those amazing finds to life with Chef Patrick's superb technique. Traditional culinary values with a modern point of view; that is why every dish we serve is filled with intense flavor, a healthy outlook and the right combination of fragrance, color and texture, creating a unique dining experience every time.
